Strategic sale of a multi-generational pharmacy

Quirke’s Medical Hall is one of the longest-standing retail businesses in Tullamore, first established in 1832. Operated by the Carragher family for multiple generations, the pharmacy was most recently managed by Paddy Carragher, who took over the business from his father in 1973.

Fitzgerald Power was engaged to manage the sale of Carragher’s Pharmacy Limited. The objective was to identify a suitable buyer, negotiate an acceptable sale price, and oversee the transaction from start to finish, allowing our client to exit the business with confidence and clarity.

We prepared a comprehensive Information Memorandum outlining the pharmacy’s financial, operational, and commercial profile, and agreed on a carefully curated distribution list of potential acquirers most likely to engage in a transaction.

We assessed incoming offers with the vendor, advised on value and terms, and led negotiations to secure an acceptable price and structure. Throughout, we project-managed the end-to-end process and liaised closely with our client’s legal advisors to keep the deal moving on time.

Due diligence support

We established and managed a secure virtual data room, coordinated responses to the purchaser’s financial, commercial and tax queries, and worked with the buyer’s agent and legal team to ensure due diligence was completed efficiently and the transaction could close smoothly.
