Carlyle Cardinal Ireland is a joint venture between The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG) and Cardinal Capital Group. Sam McCauley Chemists was established in Wexford back in 1958, and today is one of Ireland’s largest pharmacy groups.

Project Overview

The Carlyle Cardinal Ireland Fund engaged Fitzgerald Power to advise on the commercial aspects of their acquisition of Sam McCauley Chemists. This assignment leveraged Fitzgerald Power’s unparalleled knowledge of the Irish community pharmacy sector to help our client gain a comprehensive commercial understanding of the target company.
We were asked to produce a detailed commercial due diligence report which would form the basis of CCIF’s commercial appraisal of the transaction, helping internal and external stakeholders assess the opportunity.
Our review considered sector benchmarks, publicly available peer comparison data, internal financial information produced by the target company, and developments in the macro environment.
We provided an in-depth commercial due-diligence review focusing on the community pharmacy sector and the target business. This enabled our client to fully understand the commercial considerations of the deal.
